A 3D ultrasound scan of an elephant embryo at approximately three months into its 22-month gestation. The ultrasound is of George, ZSL Whipsnade Zoo's latest pachyderm arrival. George's birth was captured by cameras and television viewers can witness the moment in episode two of ITV1's The Zoo, on Tuesday 16 November at 8pm. A pair of tiger cubs have found a new father figure in the shape of a goat at Wuhan Jiufeng Forest Zoo, China. The cubs - which have not been named yet - were handed over to their unusual new dad after their mum Hu Niu refused to feed them. We are not holding out for a happy ending to this relationship

A customer looks at dried lizards on sale in a Tesco supermarket in Qingdao, China. It's Tescos but not as you know it. The UK retailer is attempting to establish a firmer foothold in the Chinese market. It has already opened 99 stores across the country during the past six years and there are plans to open a further 80. Its largest store has just opened in the city of Qingdao, Shandong province. People who flocked to new store are able to snap up such delicacies as chicken's feet, live turtles, dried lizards and dried sea horses.

Renowned food artist Carl Warner has created a portrait of comedian Billy Connolly out of traditionally Scottish foodstuffs. Carl says "I wanted to use food and ingredients that were typically Scottish, and although I know he is a vegetarian, haggis was a "must have" ingredient, plus it has the right colour and texture for skin tones. "Neeps and Tatties" took care of his nose, hair, beard and tash, and a tartan jacket was made from bacon and cucumber. A shirt was fashioned from cabbage leaves with sliced asparagus buttons and his eyes were made from black and green olives with thin slices of chicken for the whites of them. Carl's masterpiece took two days to make and it marks Billy's birthday on 24 November
